Magnetic features are easy to put together in a product description. It is more useful to pull them apart. Charging, alignment and the way a case stays attached to an accessory need their own evidence.

Start with the charging combination

Apple's MagSafe guidance describes dependencies on the phone, charger and power source. A case is part of that physical setup, but a charging result needs the complete configuration. An input reading at the charger is also different from power delivered to the phone's battery.

Keep the standard separate from the shape

The Wireless Power Consortium maintains the Qi ecosystem and its certification framework. A visible ring or a magnetic attachment does not by itself establish certification. Record the exact claim, product identity and supporting source before repeating it.

A mount needs its own check

An accessory that holds a phone on a desk is not automatically evidence for another mounting scenario. A future test should identify the accessory, direction of force, setup and repetitions. The result belongs to that tested combination.

What we will record

Our proposed review record includes the phone, operating system, case version, charger, power supply, cable and environment. A comparison begins with a baseline and a repeatable method. Until that work is done, the archive will continue to show manufacturer claims as claims.

This article records documented information and its limits. A hands-on review will identify its actual sample and use conditions. Materik archive photos are credited; other visuals are editorial illustrations. Joe works with Materik. Read our evidence and disclosure policy.
